“ I’m super happy with this meal, not just with the amazing portions but also the taste. The chips were perfect and the batter on the fish was just as good. The coleslaw on the side had a bitter, tangy bite that paired well, plus the tartar sauce I could eat by itself. I tried some of the HP sauce with it and will most likely be purchasing a bottle online. Perfect meal, I can’t wait for the next. ”
“ This little spot is insanely delicious. I'm so thrilled to have stumbled across this gem of an eatery. Gluten allergy kids rejoice because they have a gluten free batter option! The cod is cooked to perfection..crispy on the outside and flaky on the inside. The chips, coleslaw, and tarter sauce are the perfect complement to the star of the plate. “ I’m a Scot here on vacation and being Scottish I reckon I know a thing or two about fish suppers and I can tell you for sure that was one of the best fish and chips I’ve had. I loved the fries (we call them chips btw) and the fish and was very moist with a nice crispy batter. It was fairly busy night eventually in the cartel as it was super hot so quite a few of the carts were closed so The Frying Scotsman ended up being quite busy after a slow start. ”
“ I really like the halibut. It was 18.50 today for the regular size. It was super crunchy and the fish was nice and flaky. I didn’t love the chips, they are very thick and not crispy. You can add your own salt and pepper to it. It comes with small containers of what I think are coleslaw and tartar sauce, but I didn’t try either one. The guy working was pleasant to interact with. I was unsure how long the wait would be or when to know when it was ready, so I just hung around the cart and he pointed at me when it was ready. It was not a long wait and it is Saturday. ”
“ Outstanding fish and chips! Some of the best I have ever had! I got the halibut and it was absolutely worth it. The fish was cooked perfect. The batter stuck to it and was thin and crispy while the fish was still flaky and moist. Really outstanding. ”
“ Man.. best fish and chips I’ve ever had. Don’t know what you want, ask and he’ll steer you in the right direction. Also.. loved the the look of his store front. ”
“ Everyone always talks about the Fish&Chips pod in Vancouver. I’ve tried it. It doesn’t come close to comparing to the Frying Scotsman. The breading on the Cod or Halibut is amazing! Perfectly crispy on the exterior yet, the meat still tender and moist. Priced a bit higher but you get what you pay for. As the portions are quite large. He’s not one for conversation but cordial. We have eaten there over a dozen times and the fish and chips are on point Every. Single. Time. A must if at BGs. ”
“ Our go-to menu item is the Haddock fish n' chips. Walk right up to the cart, order, pay, and owner will tell you exactly how many minutes it will be ready. Condiments are self-added after the order comes out. The fried batter is absolutely perfect (golden color, satisfying crunchy bite if you eat it right away). Their curry dip also pairs well, just comfort food at its finest. Thank you for this experience! ”
